This time its Michiganders getting sports betting fever as The Great Lake State welcomed legal wagering at two of its two commercial casinos today.
With a full expansion of Michigan online gambling signed in December 2019, work behind the scenes has centered on launching an online market before March Madness.
Online sports betting in Michigan will instead follow at a later date, maybe in time for the new football season. For now, sports bets are limited to three Detroit casinos.
One of those will be the MGM Grand Detroit where visitors can take advantage of the BetMGM offering. BetMGM has recently gone live in Indiana and also operates in New Jersey, Mississippi, and West Virginia.
As mentioned, the legislation will see Michigan open its doors to a full range of online gambling options.
It’s an expansion that will see The Wolverine State compete with New Jersey and Pennsylvania, the only states with a market across the three main online gambling verticals: sports betting, casino, and poker.
