Mobile Betting Coming to Rhode Island
Maybe Peter Griffin, Brian, Quagmire and the rest of the crew will finally be able to place some bets from their phones in Quahog.
Well, jokes aside, while is unlike the fictitious characters will be betting on their beloved New England Pats, sports fans looking to place wagers via mobile in the state of Rhode Island will soon have two apps available. Launch does not have a specific date for now but testing of mobile apps are scheduled for August.
Mobile betting in Rhode Island could be in place for the start of this year’s NFL season.
State officials are hoping for a much needed boost in revenue directly as a result of mobile sports betting, having seen a less than satisfactory take from the terrestrial business thus far.
Bettors still have to pay a visit to one of the two casinos in RI to register and verify their identity. Mobile sports betting is available at Twin River Casino Hotel and Tiverton Casino Hotel. However, once registered, they can deposit and cash money via their mobile, from anywhere in the Ocean State.
Rhode Island will be the fourth state in the United States to get mobile gaming off the ground, joining Nevada, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
