Jackpot hits are one of the most exhilarating moments in gambling. There's nothing like one small spin turning into a massive win.

Plenty of casinos offer that opportunity at any time thanks to progressive jackpots. These climb whenever a player wagers and adds to the pot.

Eventually, it triggers, leading to the big payday. Below, you can find the online casinos offering progressive jackpots in America.

Included in the table are the entry costs, legal states, jackpot levels, and qualifying coins for sweepstakes casinos.

Each link will take you to that casino.

Reading the Jackpot Tracker

  • Legal States: These are the jurisdictions where you can legally play on a particular online casino. Real-money online casinos are limited to fewer than 10 states, whereas most sweepstakes casinos operate in 30+ states.
  • Cost: Jackpots take a participation fee to qualify for the pot. This tracks the amount put in with each qualifying play.
  • Levels: Most jackpots have different levels, where the frequency of a hit and the jackpot amount vary.
  • Coins: For sweepstakes casinos only, they are dual-currency systems that will have a jackpot for either one, or both coins.

Real Money vs. Sweepstakes Casino Jackpots

Functionally, sweepstakes and real-money jackpots are the same. You contribute a small amount to the pot, and each play gives you a shot at a huge win!

However, there are minor differences. Real-money online casinos are simpler, as every jackpot takes and pays out real money.

With sweepstakes casinos, the gold coins will function that way, but will never have value for anything outside of gaming. Meanwhile, the sweepstakes coins can be turned into real money, but must be redeemed first rather than being awarded as cash

How are Jackpot Costs Deducted

Every time you wager on an eligible game, the jackpot entry is deducted from your account automatically if you're opted in. There are two ways that a currency is allocated toward a jackpot entry:

Flat fee: Flat fees are the most common and deduct a specified amount from your wager if you've opted into a jackpot. As an example, a $0.20 spin will be worth that amount, but your account will lose $0.30 if you're opted into a jackpot that costs $0.10 per play.

Percentage fee: For percentage fees, the amount you contribute to the jackpot depends on the size of your wallet. Some sweepstakes casinos take 0.5% of a player's GC, as that is more than the 100 GC it would take otherwise.

Fanatics Casino is unique in that its jackpot uses the FanCash that a player would've netted instead of taking from a player's cash account. FanCash earned on Fanatics Casino is already a percentage of a wager.

Single vs. Multi-Level Progressive Jackpots

Jackpot Levels Explained

Throughout this page, there are various jackpot levels listed. Here's a deeper look at what they mean.

  • Multi-Level Jackpots: With multi-level jackpots, one contribution is distributed to multiple progressive jackpots. That also means one play has four different jackpots it could hit. Most of the casinos have multi-level jackpots, with the following levels as common names for the three or four stages available:
    • Mini
    • Minor
    • Major
    • Grand
    • Mega
    • XXL
    • Pop
    • Hit
    • Vault
    • Riches
  • Single Progressive Jackpots: Meanwhile, single progressive jackpots are much simpler. One contribution goes toward one jackpot, which can be won and reset by everyone opted in. There aren't varying prize levels with single progressive jackpots, just the one total that climbs until it's hit.
The Difference Between Jackpots and Jackpot Slots

Although jackpot slots are common and often progressive as well, they are not the same as progressive jackpots.

Jackpot slots carry a jackpot that's game-specific, or shared across a small collection of games. Typically, players must choose to play a jackpot slot and won't have an entry cost deducted from their wallet when they spin with one.

Meanwhile, casino-wide progressive jackpots can include non-slot games and all share the same pot.

Fixed vs. Progressive Jackpots

Not all jackpots are the same.

On this page, the highlighted jackpots are progressive jackpots, which increase steadily as more players contribute to the pot. Those lead to larger wins because the pot can swell drastically between hits.

However, you will probably come across fixed jackpots as well. Those always pay out the same, regardless of how many people play them.

Although that may seem outright worse, fixed jackpots are more predictable because of the fixed price and usually pay out more often.

What's the largest jackpot win ever?

For real-money online casinos, the largest recorded jackpot win was $22.4 million. A player in Michigan won it on a $0.20 spin playing Huff N' Even More Puff.

A High 5 Casino user won a 1,516,200 Sweeps Coins jackpot playing Bankrush Bonanza. That's equivalent to roughly $1.5 million.

Can I opt out of jackpots?

Yes, any jackpot that comes with an additional cost will give you the ability to opt in or out of it.

What is the difference between fixed and progressive jackpots?

A fixed jackpot will have the same payout every time. Progressive jackpots increase until someone hits it and then reset at a predetermined amount.
