Where is Betway Legal in USA?

21 April 2021

Betway is the latest European online bookmaker looking to make a splash in the US. This article tells you where Betway is legal in USA.

Where is Betway Legal in USA?

Betway Legal States

As of June 2021, Betway is legal and available in Colorado.

There has been no official line from Betway regarding the company’s first US launch. However, Betway Sportsbook is undergoing a soft launch as we speak.

The online bookmaker is licensed in Colorado through its partnership with Digital Gaming Corporation (DGC). Betway’s land-based partner is The Famous Bonanza Casino in Central City.

As a licensed betting operator in CO, Betway is regulated by the Colorado Division of Gaming (CDG).

How is Betway licensed in the US?

Betway Group has entered into a licensing agreement with Digital Gaming Corporation (DGC) to enter a total of ten states.

DGC is an iGaming content provider that already has a presence in the US with BetMGM; DGC partnered with BetMGM to launch their online slots games in New Jersey.

In each market, Betway will roll out online sports betting, and where online gambling is permitted, the brand’s online casino too.

Betway USA: (Unofficially) Up and running in CO

Betway Colorado

The Centennial State is Betway’s first legal online sports betting market in the US.

Although there has been no official launch, Betway is currently trialing its sportsbook in The Centennial State with a formal launch expected in the near future.

The Famous Bonanza Casino is Betway’s land-based partner and the provider of its sports betting license.

Betway will operate in CO according to the regulations set out by the Colorado Division of Gaming (CDG), which will oversee the Malta-based betting operator.

Betway USA: New Jersey coming soon

Betway New Jersey

New Jersey is the place to be for online betting operators so it’s no surprise that Betway’s next launch will be in the Garden State. However, when Betway will launch in NJ remains unknown.

It’s safe to presume though it will be before the new NFL season gets underway in September.

One certainty is the intense competition Betway will face. A market comprising almost twenty legal sportsbooks featuring many of the world’s biggest sports betting brands awaits.

But this is unlikely to deter Betway from becoming one of the major players in NJ as the company has already proved in over twenty regulated markets globally.

Betway in USA: What the future holds

We know that Betway will begin its US expansion with Colorado and New Jersey. And a look at the sports teams Betway has signed partnership and sponsorship agreements with gives a good indication of the states where Betway will be legal in the future.

Deals with NBA franchises Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, LA Clippers, and Golden State Warriors, as well as NHL outfit, New York Islanders, clearly point to Betway launching in yet-to-be legalized online betting states, New York, California, and Ohio.

Before then, however, you can expect Betway to roll its online sportsbook in Illinois where online betting has been live since June 2020.

Betway USA: What to expect of Betway in USA

Like many European operators making their way to the states, it’s likely that US bettors won’t have heard of Betway. But we don’t expect it to last long.

Since Betway entered the online gambling industry in 2006, the company has grown steadily and become a prominent operator in numerous countries notably, the UK, Germany, and Italy, three extremely competitive online betting markets.

A reason for this is the company’s aggressive approach toward boosting its brand with sponsorship deals in the beginning. But Betway wouldn’t have got this far without a premium product.

US bettors can expect a sportsbook bold both in appearance and offering everything you need or want. Its use of white text on a black background makes it easy to find what you’re looking for. The range of sports and markets to bet on is almost endless. And the live betting part of the sportsbook is a winner.

On top of all that, bettors are able to have total control of their bets using Cash Out and pick from a wealth of pre-game and in-game promo. The cherry on top of this Betway cake is reserved for new customers who can collect a $250 risk-free bet when they sign-up.
