FanDuel has also been operating an in-person sportsbook via a partnership with Tioga Downs Casino Resort in Nichols, New York since July 2019.

There were certain logistical hurdles to overcome before online sports betting was officially launched in New York. More precisely, there was work to be done to guarantee that the commercial casinos that house the betting companies' servers had the necessary infrastructure to do so.

The final roadblocks were thankfully sorted out well ahead of schedule, which allowed the New York State Gaming Commission to give the green light for online sports betting to begin on the morning of January 8th, 2022!
